Born: 7/11/1996
Grete, and her twin sister Liesl, started visiting patients in a nursing home and a rehabilitation hospital when they were just puppies. After graduating from four obedience courses, the girls joined Fidos’ Therapy Dog program to continue giving unconditional love to everyone they meet. They have been awarded AKC’s Canine Good Citizen certificate and are Therapy Dogs International (TDI) certified. Grete, who is a very sweet and quiet “wiener dog,” earns carrots as treats (imagine hot dogs with a waistline!) by doing lots of tricks for patients at Montgomery General and Holy Cross Hospitals, and residents at the Brooke Grove Nursing Center. Grete likes prancing around in cute hats and costumes, and has won Fidos’ annual Best Dressed and Sassiest Walk awards. Grete participates in Fidos’ demonstrations and information booths, and has a 100% success rate in assisting a local psychologist help children overcome animal phobias. Grete and Leisl have participated in Fidos’ DEAR reading program since its inception, and currently students read to them at the Glenwood Library.
