Then becoming a Fidos Therapy Team, might be for you. Fidos Therapy Dog Teams A therapy dog team consists of one dog and his/her handler. Therapy dogs are owned by our volunteers and are specifically trained to perform quality pet therapy visits at local healthcare facilities when accompanied by their owners and/or to participate in our community education program. Opportunities for Therapy Dog Teams include: Visits to Health Care Facilities such as: Athelas Care Center Bethesda Naval Brooke Grove Rehab. & Nursing Center Cherry Lane Nursing Home Hillhaven Nursing Center Holy Cross Hospital, Pediatric and Transitional Care Wards Holy Cross Rehabilitation and Nursing Center John Hopkins Children’s House Kennedy Krieger Institute Laurel Regional Hospital Manor Care Montgomery General Hospital Port Discovery Riderwood/Renaissance Gardens Ronald McDonald House Sarah's House Spa Creek DEAR Program (Dogs Educating & Assisting Readers) Disability Awareness Programs at local schools Demonstrations, Information Booths and fund raisers for Fidos (e.g. - civic clubs, businesses, Maryland Renaissance Festival, University of Maryland Ag Day) Junior Volunteer Program (Juniors 12 and older are partnered with an adult volunteer and taught how to train and handle a dog during Wednesday evening classes.)
